Col Alan M. Tornay is the Commander, 927th Mission Support Group, MacDill AFB, Florida. In this role, he is responsible for over 250 officer, enlisted and civilian personnel assigned to the Security Forces Squadron, Force Support Squadron, and Logistics Readiness Squadron. He provides; oversight, management and resource advocacy in manpower, military and civilian personnel, training, facility and public works, security, logistics, and communications for the reserve Wing.
Col Tornay enlisted into the Air Force Reserve in 1991 and was an Aerial Port Apprentice and Journeyman before obtaining his commission in 1997 through the Deserving Airman Commissioning Program. Col Tornay has served in a variety of positions to include time as a Transportation Officer and Services Officer subsequent to him becoming a Logistics Readiness Officer in 2007. In 2015 he was selected for the Mission Support Group intern program through Air Force Reserve Command. This competitive program provided a training venue and the framework of requirements necessary to prepare him to one-day take command. Following the
successful completion of the intern program, he attended Air War College. He is a Distinguished Graduate of Logistics Readiness Officer course and Top Third Graduate of Squadron Officer School (in residence). He is married to the former Robyn Markis and they have a son: Kennedy. Prior to his current position, the Lt Col was the Deputy Commander, 452d Mission Support Group, March ARB.
