MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, FL. -- Tech Sgt. Josue Santiago 927th Air Refueling Wing Yellow Ribbon representative enters his new position knowing exactly what is expected of him.
“I'm excited for this opportunity,” said Santiago. “The previous coordinator did an excellent job and I will continue providing the best support for our Airmen.
Santiago, a Catskill, NY native comes to Yellow Ribbon also serves within the 927 ARW at Airman and Family Readiness, before that he served in the 927th Logistics Readiness Squadron in Petroleum Oil and Lubricant shop.
As a traditional reservist, Santiago works as a Firefighter with the Orange County, FL Fire Department, so he understands how to give back to those in need.
“One of the reasons I accepted this position was to assist Airmen and their families,” Santiago said. “I really want to promote the dynamic and engaging events that Yellow Ribbon offers.”
Since 2008, the Air Force Yellow Ribbon Program has assisted reservists and Air National Guard members in maintaining resiliency as they transition between their military and civilian roles.
The Yellow Ribbon program promotes the well-being of reservists and their loved ones by connecting them with resources before and after deployments. Each year, the Air Force Reserve program trains 7,000 reservists and those closest to them in education benefits, health care, retirement information and more.
“My goal is to have 100% participation from those who qualify, “said Santiago. “As a representative of Yellow Ribbon, I feel honored to support our fellow Airmen and their loved ones.”
