MacDill Air Force Base -- Lieutenant Colonel Shane Rogers took command of the 63rd Refueling Squadron during an assumption of command ceremony held on Sunday of the March Unit Training Assembly here. The 63rd falls under the 927th Operations Group of the 927th Air Refueling Wing.
Rogers began his military career as a 2001 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and has earned two subsequent Master’s Degrees. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in May 2001 and is a senior pilot with over 3,000 hours in the T-37B, T-1A, T-6A and KC-135R/T.
As commander of the 63rd, Rogers ensures rapid global mobility for a full spectrum of operations by educating, training, equipping and deploying aircrew and support personnel. He enables global vigilance, reach, and power through employment of aircrews, operating 16 KC-135R/T aircraft, in air refueling, airlift and aeromedical evacuation missions to sustain America's expeditionary and joint war fighting capability.
