MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, FL --
Since taking command of the 927th Air Refueling Wing, Col. Frank Amodeo, conducted his first 927th ARW commander's call on Saturday of the April Unit Training Assembly, here.
Commander’s call began with Amodeo giving award winners from previous quarter’s recognition for their hard work, and dedication to the mission.
“These Airmen have continuously contributed to the fight, and we can’t stress enough how proud we are of them,” said Amodeo. “As a commander I am proud of our accomplishments as a wing and I know it will be continued going forward.”
Also during commander’s call, Amodeo took questions from members in the audience via smartphone, a new way to ensure members don’t leave the session with questions unanswered.
“With the change in technology, I thought this would be the best way to get our Airmen to ask questions they otherwise might be nervous to ask,” said Amodeo.
And it was a hit among the Airmen, Amodeo received more questions that could be answered during the commanders call, unanswered questions will be posted on the wing's SharePoint page.
“It was really nice to have an outlet to reach out to the commander in a different way,” said Tech. Sgt. Enrique Hoyos, 927th Emergency Management technician. “For some of our Airmen it may be intimidating to speak up in a large auditorium, but this gives everyone a better avenue to have their questions answered.”
Commander’s call concluded with Col. Amodeo explaining how the little things can impact someone’s life whether positively or negatively.
“It’s very important to understand that the little things matter,” Amodeo said. “We never know exactly what someone might be going through so we have to get to know people. It’s crucial to get to know people around the wing because we can make the difference in someone else’s life who might be struggling.”
