MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Col. Caroline Evernham assumed command of the 927th Operations Group during a ceremony held on base Saturday, November 4.
Presiding over the ceremony was Col. Michael Remauldo, 927th Air Refueling Wing Commander who stated he believes in the leadership that Evernham will provide to the group.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Col. Evernham as she brings a wealth of experience to our wing,” said Remauldo. “I truly believe that she is going to come in and do great things not only for the OG, but also for the wing as well.”
Evernham comes to the 927 ARW after spending the last two years as the 931st Operations Group commander based at McConnell Air Force Base, Kan. Prior to her time at McConnell, Evernham also served at various other assignments including a six year stint with the 916th Operations Group based at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C. as the commander.
After receiving the guidon, Evernham addressed the leadership from the 6th Air Mobility Wing in attendance, and representatives from the 927th.
“I am very happy to embark on this new journey with all of you,” said Evernham. “I look forward to helping you all grow not only as Airmen, but people as well. We are going to do great things as a unit and I cannot wait to get started.”
The 927 OG is comprised of nearly 300 Airmen and three squadrons; the 63rd Air Refueling Squadron, the 45th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron and the 927th Operations Support Squadron. As the commander of the OG, Evernham is responsible for ensuring that the operations group provides mission ready Airmen in support of missions around the globe.
