MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, FL --
Lt. Col. Ginger Ormond assumed command of the 927th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron during a ceremony held on base, Nov 5.
Lt. Col. Scot Terry, 927th Maintenance Group commander, presided over the ceremony and provided insight into Ormond’s future as the AMXS commander.
“Lt. Col. Ormond is one of the most persistent individuals I've ever met," said Terry. "She has a drive that is unmatched and a relentless pursuit to be the best and we are grateful that she is going to be the leader of this squadron."
As commander of the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Ormond provides aircraft maintenance specialists for the KC-135 Stratotankers and is responsible for the flightline maintenance required to launch and recover sorties supporting air refueling operations, both at home and at deployed locations around the globe.
After receiving the guidon from Terry, Ormond posed for a photo and proceeded to give her speech to the squadron.
“I'm completely thankful to have this opportunity to serve alongside these great men and women," said Ormond. "Its something that I have dreamed about for a long time and cant wait to take on this new challenge with all of you."
Ormond is a graduate of the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering, and commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. She joined the 927th Air Refueling Wing in September of 2016 as the deputy group commander for the 927th Maintenance Group.
