MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Ten diverse speakers from around the country shared their stories of leadership, inspiration, innovation and resiliency during the first Leaders Inspiring for Tomorrow (LIFTx) seminar hosted by MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, April 19, 2018.
“The idea was to uplift and reinvigorate people’s sense of purpose,” said Maj. David Stuckenberg, the 6th Air Mobility Wing commander’s action group director. “LIFTx is about valuing our Airmen and showing them that they are cared for, while imparting wisdom into their lives.”
The seminar was held in the base theater with around 600 base personnel in attendance. LIFTx was also shared through a YouTube livestream, where it was viewed by around another 1,000 people.
“It was great to watch these speakers share their knowledge and success stories with us,” said Staff Sgt. Brad Tipton, a broadcast journalist assigned to the 6th Air Mobility Wing. “I could really tell that many of the presenters left an impact on the service members around MacDill by the conversations that were had afterwards.”
Each speaker, ranging from life coaches to entrepreneurs to tragedy survivors, shared their story during this TedTalk-style conference, which allowed them to interact with service members first-hand.
“Even though a lot of us didn’t know each other, we’re leaving as friends, which is really cool,” said David Dusek, founder of Rough Cut Men Ministries, which focuses on men being transparent about their lives. “I think we succeeded in our mission, which was to inspire people to live to fight another day.”
