The 927th Mission Support Group held an assumption of command ceremony at the 927th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base, FL on Dec 7.

Lt. Col. Alan Tornay, assumed command during a ceremony attended by more than 200 people, including Col. Doug Stouffer, 927th Air Refueling Wing commander who presided over the event.

Stouffer opened the ceremony by thanking the family of Tornay for their support.

“Your continued support during Alan’s career has been instrumental in getting him here today,” said Stouffer. “We can’t thank you guys enough for joining the 927th family.”

The ceremony continued with words from Stouffer about the 927 MSG.

"This is an outstanding group that you've had the pleasure of working with prior to this ceremony," said Stouffer. "Together with your leadership, I have the utmost faith that you all will accomplish great things."

As Col. Stouffer concluded his speech, Tornay stood and prepared to assume command.

After assuming command, Tornay addressed members of the unit and his family.

“I know that this is a motivated group that continues to seek to be better and I want to continue that going forward,” said Tornay. “Lastly, my family, you both mean the world to me and I’m glad you’ve been with me the entire way through.”

The ceremony then concluded with members in attendance singing the Air Force song as the official party departed.
