MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- As of 10 a.m. July 6, 2021, the Installation Commander has declared Hurricane Condition (HURCON) 2 for MacDill AFB.
Destructive winds are ANTICIPATED within 24 hours.
Take appropriate preparation actions. Evacuation of the installation is not directed at this time.
The commander has limited base access and “mission essential personnel” only for July 6 and 7.
Contact your assigned unit with any questions.
The 11 a.m. update for Tropical Storm Elsa:
• Expect 60 mph wind gusts
• Upwards of 8 inches of rain
• 3 to 5 feet storm surge
• Storm arriving in local area approximately at Noon, July 6
• Increased localized flooding
• Tropical Storm Warning
• Storm Surge Warning
• Hurricane Watch
Base housing residents should tie down or bring inside all loose objects from outdoors. There will be no base garbage pick-up on Wednesday.
The Dale Mabry Gate will remain open.
The Medical Group Clinics will be closed on Wednesday.
