The Combined Federal Campaign is back again this year with the slogan "Be an everyday hero." The campaign will last until December 15, 2015.

So what is the Combined Federal Campaign, how do you contribute, and where exactly is your money going when you do decide to contribute?

The Combined Federal Campaign, or CFC, is the world's most prosperous workplace charity campaign with close to 200 campaigns throughout the country. Pledges made by Federal, civilian, and military donors during the campaign season raise millions of dollars for eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits around the world.

"Unit CFC representatives should be stopping by everyone's workplace to raise awareness about this year's campaign," said Melissa Hall, Combined Federal Campaign assistant. "If your representative hasn't been by yet, don't panic, you can go to our website at suncoastcfc.org to get more information or to make a contribution."

The CFC currently partners with an estimated 20,000 non-profit charitable organizations worldwide. The charities supported through the CFC range from small community groups to larger, more well-known charities.

"We want to stress the point that service members don't have to give to a charity local to where they are stationed," stated Hall. "Through the Universal Giving program, you can give to any charity worldwide as long as they are linked up with CFC. So if you have a charity in your hometown that you want to give back to, you can through the CFC."

MacDill Air Force Base, Florida is part of the Suncoast CFC area, which has an overall goal of raising 1.2 million dollars by the end of the campaign, and if last year's total raised is indicative of this year, the Suncoast CFC will reach that goal.

"We'd just like to thank everyone on MacDill for being so generous," stated Diane Sharp, Suncoast CFC director. "Whether your donation is small or large, you make a huge difference in someone's life. We find that one in every three people uses a service that CFC supports in their lifetime, so the money you donate today could be helping your wingman tomorrow."
