During the October Unit Training Assembly, Col. Brad Anderson, recently took his final flight as the 927th Air Refueling Wing vice commander.

Anderson departed MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., on October 3, to refuel a C-17 Globemaster III assigned to the Mississippi Air National Guard and then returned home for the traditional 'fini-flight' celebration.

In a tradition nearly as old as military aviation, the 'fini-flight' is a time of celebration for the pilot, crew, friends and family.

"I am humbled that so many people showed up today to celebrate my fini-flight as the 927 ARW vice," said Anderson. "It has been my honor to serve this wing and will miss everyone here."

At a ceremony after the flight, members from throughout the wing presented Anderson with parting gifts and kind words thanking him for his time at MacDill.

"Col. Anderson has been my vice since I arrived last year," said Col. Randy Bright, 927 ARW, commander. "I couldn't have asked for a better one.  He speaks 135, just like all of you, and does it effectively, he will be missed."

Despite leaving MacDill to work at the Pentagon, Anderson reminded everyone in attendance that the 927 ARW must always be ready, willing and able to complete the mission.

"It is no accident that we are great at what we do," said Anderson. "It is our strict dedication to training and mission accomplishment that allows us to directly participate in winning the war."
