9/19/2015 - MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, FLA -- The 927th Air Refueling Wing welcomed a new squadron commander during a change of command ceremony, Sept. 19, here.

During the ceremony, command of the 927th Maintenance Squadron was assumed by Maj. Mary Hosea.

The presiding official of the ceremony, Lt. Col. Kelly Bailey, 927th Maintenance Group commander, greeted all in attendance before speaking about his new incoming commander.

"As I read through Maj. Hosea's old performance reports I noted that she had all of the characteristics that a commander needs to embody, said Bailey." She's determined, diligent, dedicated and tenacious and above all else, a great leader that's why she is your squadron commander."

Bailey closed his speech by passing the guidon to Hosea, a Virginia Beach, Virginia native, who started her Air Force career on active duty as an aircraft structural maintenance technician. She then earned her ROTC commission from the University of Alaska-Anchorage.

After receiving the guidon, Hosea then proceeded to give a few remarks about her new position as squadron commander.

"I am extremely proud to have this opportunity to lead you," said Hosea. "I promise to give my best effort to the men and women of this squadron. When I enlisted years ago, I started working in a maintenance shop and was fortunate to later earn an ROTC scholarship, now being a traditional reservist, it has helped not only me but my family as well and I look forward to helping each and every one of you."
