The Air Force stresses to its personnel that wellness in all areas of life is very important. One particular component, financial wellness, is crucial to Airmen maintaining their mission readiness.

At MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, a free 12-week Financial Peace course is being offered to anyone desiring to take control of their finances, spending and saving habits.

Upon arrival, members are given a work booklet to follow along with video instruction.
Additionally, attendees are encouraged to fill out a budget sheet to get an idea of how their money is being spent.

"We want you to create a budget and be aware of where all your money is being spent," said Master Sgt. Jonathan Phillips, 6th Maintenance Squadron additional duty first sergeant. "We all need to have those hard conversations about money."

Along with video instruction, attendees are also given time to discuss topics among their peers ranging from experiences, instructor-given topics, and financial victory stories from that particular week.

"We want to rejoice in one another's successes," said Phillips. "It means so much to be able to support one another in both success and failure."

The course is currently approaching its fourth week and is still open to anyone that wishes to join. Classes are being held every Tuesday in the base chapel from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Invite your friends, the more people we can inform the better," said Phillips.
