A shower of ice and water is something that most people don't relish, but that's exactly what was in store for Col. Larry Shaw. MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- A shower of ice and water is something that most people don't relish, but that's exactly what was in store for Col. Larry Shaw. Upon landing at MacDill Air Force Base, Fla. on Feb. 26, with water jugs in hand, family, friends and co-workers doused the colonel with an icy shower, marking the end of his reign as commander of the 927th Operations Group. Water dousing is a time honored tradition that is conducted when a member of an aircrew completes their final flight with a unit.

Colonel Shaw has not hung up his uniform; he will continue to serve at Air Force Reserve Headquarters, Robbins AFB, Georgia.
