Chief's Column - A Fit Force Published June 3, 2010 By Chief Master Sgt. Nina Watkins 927th Air Refueling Wing Command Chief MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- In less than a month, July 1, the new fitness testing program will be in place. The composite score of 75 and the four components of the test remain the same (abdominal circumference measurement, timed 1.5 mile run, push-ups and sit-ups within one minute). Meeting minimum standards in each component, testing twice a year and the PTL that conducts your test is primarily what is new. Some good news is, if an Airman scores an "Excellent" (90 or above) when testing in all four components, the Airman may test once a year (vice twice a year) for tests completed after 30 Jun 2010. Note: An Airman who scores an "Excellent" but was medically exempt from testing in one (1) or more of the four (4) components must still test twice a year. At this Premier Associate Wing, our first focus area on the 2010 Strategic Plan is Combat Readiness. This means we are a fit force, healthy, trained and fully capable of accomplishing our mission. Leadership throughout the wing has supported initiatives to help members meet the new expectations for a healthier force. Now, we are depending on you to help us maintain a fit force 365 days a year. In the coming UTAs, you can expect your unit leadership to provide you with more information about the new testing process. Stay tuned.
