63rd Troop Carrier Squadron
Louisville, Ky. -- The former and present commander of the 63rd Air Refueling Squadron, now based out of MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., bridged a gap of more than 60 years to share their stories. The unit began as the 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron during World War II. One of the unit's first commanders, Col. George Kinnaird, traces the flight paths he used to avoid Japanese anti-aircraft fire over the Solomon Islands. (Official U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Shawn C. Rhodes)
