NOAA releases AXBTs into Gulf of Mexico
Tubes of Airborne eXpendable BathyThermograph devices are stacked high on a WP-3D Orion weather research aircraft for a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration flight over the Gulf of Mexico June 25, 2010. The NOAA Aircraft Operations Center crew released 58 AXBTs, which measure the temperature in a given area of the gulf up to a depth of 400 feet.
