AES Homecoming
Members from the 45th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron met at Tampa International Airport to welcome home Airmen returning from a four month deployment, Jan. 8, 2016. While deployed they supported Aeromedical Evacuation missions from Germany to Afghanistan and Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. One returning member, Tech. Sgt. Derek Matway, who was supposed to return a week later, decided to not to tell his family about his early return and surprise them. “I was supposed to come home on the 12th,” said Matway. “I didn’t want to tell my wife so I could surprise her and my son. The best part was picking my son up from school!”
