Florida burrowing owl released on MacDill

Bill Heine, U.S. Army Reserve UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter standardization officer, releases a Florida burrowing owl at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, April 8, 2022. The bird, which was held at a wildlife rehabilitation center, was relocated to MacDill because the base is home to the only known remaining colonies of burrowing owls in the Tampa Bay area.
