U.S. Air Force Capt. Orchydia Sackey, 50th Air Refueling Squadron pilot, stands in front of a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, March 7, 2023. Sackey, originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands, had a dream of becoming a pilot ever since she went on her first commercial flight in the second grade. Sackey commissioned through the U.S. Air Force Academy and completed pilot training to fulfill her dream. Sackey now serves as the Aviation Inspiration Mentorship director for the 6th Air Refueling Wing. The AIM program supports community outreach and engagement by informing and inspiring prospective Air Force pilots through base visits, incentive flights and mentorship sessions.
