  • Be safe and seen this Halloween

    Halloween trick-or-treating on MacDill AFB is scheduled for Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m. in the Harbor Bay Housing areas. Airmen from the 6th Security Forces Squadron and volunteers from other base units will conduct a “Pumpkin Patrol” to provide a safe and secure environment for children trick-or-treating through expanded foot patrols. To ensure children are safe, make sure they can be seen while trick-or-treating.
  • MacDill LOA chapter receives national recognition

    The Logistics Officer Association MacDill Lightning Chapter recently won the 2019 Col. Hass Small Chapter of the Year award during the 2019 National Logistics Officer Association Symposium Oct. 10 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Small Chapter of the Year award recognizes work the chapter has accomplished in areas such as leadership, mentorship, innovation and community service. The Lightning Chapter is active in community service, often through raising funds for scholarships for enlisted logistics Airmen.
  • MacDill becomes nest for U.S. Navy Super Hornets

    Fighter aircraft rip through the skies around MacDill as the community marvels at the sound they have dubbed “the sound of freedom.” It’s a comforting sound for the U.S. Air Force who specializes in fighter aircraft. For the month of October, 18 U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft with the Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 106 from Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia have made MacDill their new home for training.

    MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Last summer, the Air Force suffered the loss of a civil engineer squadron Airman who was operating around an entry to a confined space in a deployed location. U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. John J. Allen the director of civil engineers, ordered that all civil engineer squadrons conduct a safety stand-down day to deter these types of incidents.
