MacDill’s Total Force medical, maintenance, mission support and operations groups undergo precise training and are regularly evaluated in order to ensure that they are prepared and able to execute the nation’s strategic deterrence mission.

With a youthful smile and a passion for progress, Lt. Col. Kristi Delcour, chief of Promotion Board Operations at Headquarters Air Reserve Personnel Center, embraces the challenges that balance a healthy lifestyle through athleticism, parenthood and perseverance. According to military demographics, out of about 64,000 officers in the Air Force only 22.4 percent are women, and Delcour is blazing the path for others to follow. On the HQ ARPC Promotion Board, she impacts the future of officers in the Air Force Reserve.
  • COVID-19 Vaccines: Changing the course of the pandemic

    The Department of Defense has an independent but collaborative program with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to provide COVID-19 vaccines to DoD uniformed service members. This includes active duty, Guard/Reserve, retirees, family members, civilian employees and selected DoD contract personnel. Getting the vaccine is voluntary, but all DoD personnel are encouraged to get it to protect their health, their families and their community.

The theme for this year’s Black History Month observance is from the Association for the Study of African American Life and History’s “The Black Family: Representation, Identity and Diversity.”

    Leaders from the 6th Air Refueling Wing hosted a panel of Tampa civic leaders via a live online event Feb. 5 to discuss diversity and inclusion as it relates to MacDill AFB and the located community. Air Force diversity includes but is not limited to: personal life experiences, geographic and socioeconomic backgrounds, cultural knowledge, educational background, work experience, language abilities, physical abilities, philosophical and spiritual perspectives, age, race, ethnicity and gender.

  • DOD outlines new mask guidance

    The memorandum states that all individuals on military installations and those performing official duties on behalf of DOD from any location other than home, including outdoor shared spaces, will wear masks. Masks must be in accordance with current CDC guidelines.
  • Veterans, service dogs, stroll in the park to raise awareness

    On the morning of Feb. 6, 2021, dozens of veterans and supporters, many with service dogs in tow, gathered behind the Amputee Veterans of America Support Team (AVAST) Color Guard, and walked along the Tampa Bay Riverwalk to raise awareness of the need for service dogs for veterans. The event was organized by Sierra Delta, a nonprofit aimed at connecting veterans with service-dog training. An honored guest, United States Central Command Commander General Kenneth F. McKenzie attended the event and spoke words of support for the wounded veterans.
